Living Life Over

If I had my life to live over... I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was strained and the sofa faded.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding patter if I were not there for the day.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, would not show soil or was guaranteed to last a life time.

There would have been more "I love yous" ... more "I"m sorrys" ... but mostly, given another shots at life, I would seize every minute... look at it and really see it... live it ... and never give it back.

Love is Like Magic

Love is like magic
and it always will be,
For love still remains
life"s sweet mystery.

Love works in ways
that are wondrous and strange
And there"s nothing in life
that love cannot change!

Love can transform
the most commonplace
Into beauty and splendor
and sweetness and grace.

Love is unselfish,
understanding and kind,
For it sees with its heart
and not with its mind.

Love is the answer
that everyone seeks...
Love is the language
that every heart speaks.

Love can"t be bought,
it is priceless and free,
Love, like pure magic,
is life"s sweet mystery!

An Angel Kiss

An Angel kissed my tears away
today when I was sad.
I wasn"t feeling quite myself
my day had been so bad.

I felt a warmth brush by me
that quickly dried my tears;
A gentle, kind, and loving touch
that seemed to hold me near.

Immediately, I felt so much better
and the day seemed brighter, too.
I guess that"s just the way you feel
when an Angel comforts you.

A boss wondered why one of his most valued employees had not phoned in sick one day.

Having an urgent problem with one of the main computers, he dialed the employee"s home phone number and was greeted with a child"s whisper.  " Hello? "

"Is your daddy home?" he asked.

" Yes " whispered the small voice.

May I talk with him?"

The child whispered, "No. "

Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is your Mommy there?"  " Yes. " "May I talk with her?"  Again the small voice whispered, " No. "

Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, "Is there anybody else there?"

"Yes ," whispered the child, " a policeman ".

Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee"s home, the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?"

"No, he"s busy   ", whispered the child.

"Busy doing what?"

" Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman, " came the whispered answer.

Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, "What is that noise?"

"A helicopter " answered the whispering voice.

"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive.

Again, whispering, the child answered, " The search team just landed a helicopter."

Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated the boss asked, "What are they searching for?"Still whispering the young voice replied with a muffled giggle. . . "ME"

Here are some tips which may help you to master the English Language!

1. Speak without Fear

The biggest problem most people face in learning a new language is their own fear.  They worry that they won’t say things correctly or that they will look stupid so they don’t talk at all.  Don’t do this.  The fastest way to learn anything is to do it – again and again until you get it right.  Like anything, learning English requires practice.  Don’t let a little fear stop you from getting what you want.

2. Use all of your Resources

Even if you study English at a language school it doesn’t mean you can’t learn outside of class.  Using as many different sources, methods and tools as possible, will allow you to learn faster.  There are many different ways you can improve your English, so don’t limit yourself to only one or two.  The internet is a fantastic resource for virtually anything, but for the language learner it"s perfect.

3. Surround Yourself with English

The absolute best way to learn English is to surround yourself with it.  Take notes in English, put English books around your room, and listen to English language radio broadcasts, watch English news, movies and television.  Speak English with your friends whenever you can. The more English material that you have around you, the faster you will learn and the more likely it is that you will begin “thinking in English.”

4. Listen to Native Speakers as Much as Possible

There are some good English teachers that have had to learn English as a second language before they could teach it.  However, there are several  reasons why many of the best schools prefer to hire native English speakers. One of the reasons is that native speakers have a natural flow to their speech that students of English should try to imitate.  The closer ESL / EFL students can get to this rhythm or flow, the more convincing and comfortable they will become.

5. Watch English Films and Television

This is not only a fun way to learn but it is also very effective.  By watching English films (especially those with English subtitles) you can expand your vocabulary and hear the flow of speech from the actors.  If you listen to the news you can also hear different accents.

6. Listen to English Music

Music can be a very effective method of learning English.  In fact, it is often used as a way of improving comprehension.  The best way to learn though, is to get the lyrics (words) to the songs you are listening to and try to read them as the artist sings.  There are several good internet sites where one can find the words for most songs. This way you can practice your listening and reading at the same time.  And if you like to sing, fine.

7. Study As Often As Possible!

Only by studying things like grammar and vocabulary and doing exercises, can you really improve your knowledge of any language.

8. Do Exercises and Take Tests

Many people think that exercises and tests aren"t much fun.  However, by completing exercises and taking tests you can really improve your English. One of the best reasons for doing lots of exercises and tests is that they give you a benchmark to compare your future results with.  Often, it is by comparing your score on a test you took yesterday with one you took a month or six months ago that you realize just how much you have learned.  If you never test yourself, you will never know how much you are progressing. Start now by doing some of the many exercises and tests on this site, and return in a few days to see what you"ve learned. Keep doing this and you really will make some progress with English.

9. Record Yourself

Nobody likes to hear their own voice on tape but like tests, it is good to compare your tapes from time to time.  You may be so impressed with the progress you are making that you may not mind the sound of your voice as much.

10. Listen to English

By this, we mean, speak on the phone or listen to radio broadcasts, audio books or CDs in English. This is different than watching the television or films because you can’t see the person that is speaking to you.  Many learners of English say that speaking on the phone is one of the most difficult things that they do and the only way to improve is to practice

Life Is A Miracle

Life is a miracle
Don"t let it slip away,
Open your heart to others
Give of yourself each day.

See the beauty in everyone
Regardless of where they"ve been,
Some have a difficult journey
And really need a friend.

Share your gifts and talents
Listen with your heart.
Do the things you dream about
But don"t have time to start.

Pick a bouquet of flowers
Show someone that you care,
Be gracious and forgiving
Life is never fair.

Hold on to your courage
You may need it down the road,
We all have a cross to bear
It could be a heavy load.

If you practice all these things
No matter where you roam,
You may find both sun and rain
But you"ll never feel alone!

              THE MAN HE KILLED

Had he and I but met

By some old ancient inn,

We should have sat us down to wet

Right many a nipperkin!

But ranged as infantry,

And staring face to face,

I shot at him as he at me,

And killed him in his place.

I shot him dead because-

Because he was my foe,

Just so: my foe of course he was;

That’s clear enough; although

He thought he had list, perhaps,

Off-hand-like-just as I-

Was out of work-had sold his tarps-

No other reason why.

Yes; quaint and curious war is

You shoot a fellow down

You"d treat, if met where any bar is,

Or help to half-a-crown

Take advantage of facets of computer hardware and software that appeal to different learning styles or intelligences

Remember that the textbooks are only a resource; they should not drive the curriculum
